About the Red Line

The Red Line is the primary artery of the Dubai Metro, running from Centrepoint in Deira to Expo City Dubai and UAE Exchange. It covers major landmarks including the Airport, Sheikh Zayed Road, and Dubai Marina.

History

The Red Line opened on 9 September 2009 (09/09/09) with an initial 10 stations. It was the first part of the Dubai Metro project to launch, significantly changing how residents and tourists navigate the city's main corridor along Sheikh Zayed Road. It has since been extended, most notably with the 'Route 2020' branch that connects directly to the Expo City Dubai site.
