London Oyster Card Fare Calculator 2025
The Oyster card is the cheapest way to pay for most London Underground journeys. Tap in and out at every station - the system automatically applies the lowest fare and caps your daily spend. For 2025–2026, a single journey in Zone 1 costs £2.80 on Oyster or contactless; the daily cap across Zones 1–2 is £8.50.
Contactless bank cards (Visa, Mastercard, Amex) work exactly like Oyster and apply the same capped fares - no need to top up. Weekly capping also applies across Monday–Sunday when you use the same contactless card every day.
The Travelcard (available as 1-day, 7-day, or monthly) is better value if you are making more than 3 journeys per day or travelling in outer zones regularly. A weekly Zones 1–2 Travelcard costs £41.80.
