High Barnet is the northern terminus of the High Barnet branch of the Northern line, located in the London Borough of Barnet close to the Hertfordshire border. The station was originally part of the Great Northern Railway's branch line before being taken over by London Transport in 1940. The town of Barnet has a pleasant high street and sits on the edge of London's green belt, with good access to Hadley Common and the historic site of the Battle of Barnet (1471). The station has a large car park and is a popular park-and-ride for commuters from the Barnet area.
