South Wimbledon is a Northern line station in Zone 3, one stop north of Morden (the line's southern terminus). The area is primarily residential and the station serves as a commuter stop for south-west London workers heading into central London on the Northern line. Wimbledon town centre and the All England Tennis Club are accessible by bus from the station, though Wimbledon station itself (District line and National Rail) gives better direct access to the town and the tennis venue.
South Wimbledon opened in 1926 as part of the Morden extension. It serves Zone 3 on the Northern line only. The station is not step-free.
The Northern line connects north toward Colliers Wood, Tooting Broadway and into central London. Southbound trains run one stop to Morden (terminus). Journey to Waterloo is approximately 25 minutes.
South Wimbledon has a small shop. Local shops are on the surrounding streets.
South Wimbledon is not step-free. Morden (step-free, one stop south) is the nearest accessible station.
Wimbledon town centre — By bus. The Wimbledon station area with shops, restaurants and the District line is the better access point for the town.
Morden Hall Park — By bus south. A National Trust estate on the River Wandle with free access to meadows and wetlands.
A quiet commuter station. Rush hours 08:00-09:30 and 17:30-19:30.
