About Canal Street

Canal Street is a major lower Manhattan interchange serving multiple lines and the gateway to Chinatown - one of the most densely populated and culturally vibrant ethnic neighbourhoods in New York. The street itself is a bazaar of discount electronics, fake handbags, jewellery stalls and every variety of Chinese, Vietnamese and other Asian street food. The adjacent Little Italy - now largely absorbed into Chinatown - retains a handful of traditional Italian restaurants.
