About Arts et Métiers

Arts et Métiers is one of the most visually spectacular Métro stations in the world. The Line 11 platform was redesigned in 1994 by comic book artist François Schuiten as a submarine interior in honour of the nearby Musée des Arts et Métiers - all riveted copper panels and circular portholes. The museum itself, housed in a medieval priory, contains Foucault's original pendulum and Blériot's Channel-crossing monoplane.
