About Al Hamra Metro Station

Al Hamra Metro Station is the eastern interchange of the Red Line - the point where the Red Line along King Abdullah Road meets the Purple Line running through the eastern and northern residential districts. For passengers on the Purple Line coming from the KAFD area or heading to the university and residential zones to the north, Al Hamra is the transfer point onto the Red Line for the city's diplomatic and university corridors to the west.

Station Overview

Elevated Zone 1 two-line interchange station serving the Red Line (Line 2) and Purple Line (Line 6). Opened 2024. Between Khalid Bin Alwaleed Road to the west and Al Khaleej to the east on the Red Line.

Lines and Connectivity

The Red Line provides access westbound to Riyadh Exhibition Center, Ministry of Education (Green Line), STC Al Olaya (Blue Line), and KSU. The Purple Line runs north toward KAFD (Blue/Yellow interchange), SABIC, and Ar Rabi, and south toward An Naseem and As Salam on the Orange Line.

Station Layout and Structure

Two-line elevated interchange. Separate platforms connected through a shared concourse. Allow 3 to 5 minutes for platform transfers. Staffed information desk available during all operating hours.

Full step-free access with lifts on all levels, tactile paving, audio announcements in Arabic and English, and platform screen doors on both lines.
