About Hauz Khas

Hauz Khas Metro Station is a colossal, multi-level underground interchange hub where the historic Yellow Line meets the modern Magenta Line. With the addition of the Magenta Line concourse in 2018, Hauz Khas transformed into one of the deepest and busiest stations in the entire Delhi Metro network. Plunging to a depth of 29 meters, the new section required extraordinary engineering to build beneath the existing operational Yellow Line without disrupting service.

The station is a marvel of urban infrastructure. Navigating between the Yellow and Magenta lines involves long walks and multiple escalator rides, but the transition is seamless thanks to excellent signage and spacious corridors. The station handles a staggering volume of commuters, serving as the primary transfer point for passengers traveling from Gurgaon (Yellow Line) to Noida or the Airport (Magenta Line). The interiors are highly modernized, featuring extensive retail options, vibrant artwork, and robust security systems.

Strategically, Hauz Khas is the beating heart of South Delhi's transit network. Beyond its interchange capabilities, it serves affluent neighborhoods, premier educational institutions, and the wildly popular Hauz Khas Village-a hub of historic ruins, chic boutiques, and vibrant nightlife. Despite the massive crowds, the station's sheer scale allows it to function smoothly and efficiently.
