About Janakpuri West

Janakpuri West Metro Station is a monumental interchange hub, serving as the western terminus of the Magenta Line and connecting it seamlessly with the highly trafficked Blue Line. The inauguration of the Magenta Line section here in 2018 drastically altered the commute for West Delhi residents, cutting the travel time to the domestic airport and South Delhi by more than half. Situated near the bustling Janakpuri District Centre, it is one of the most critical transit nodes in West Delhi.

The station is celebrated for its breathtaking engineering. The underground Magenta Line concourse is built at a staggering depth of 29 meters, making it one of the deepest stations on the network. To connect this deep underground section to the elevated Blue Line, the DMRC installed India's tallest escalators (15.6 meters high), offering a spectacular, albeit dizzying, ride for commuters. The station interiors are adorned with vibrant traditional artwork, providing a cultural touch to the highly modern facility.

Strategically, Janakpuri West is the primary gateway for residents of Vikas Puri, Tilak Nagar, and Uttam Nagar heading towards Noida or the airport. The station is equipped with extensive amenities, including a multi-level parking facility, numerous retail outlets, and robust security. Despite the massive footfall, the layout ensures a smooth, albeit long, interchange experience.
