Deira City Centre

Few stations put a mall this close. Deira City Centre drops passengers right beside the shopping centre that gives the station its name, one of the oldest and best-loved malls in the city, so a day of shopping needs no car and no parking search. The stop draws a steady stream of families, tourists and locals who treat the mall as a full day out rather than a quick errand.

Because this part of the Red Line runs below ground, the station stays cool no matter how fierce the heat above. Clear signage points the way to the mall, and the walk from platform to shops is short and shaded.

Station Overview

Deira City Centre opened in 2009 on the Dubai Metro Red Line and sits in Zone 5 of the NOL fare system. It is one of the underground stations on the older Deira side of the line, served by the same automated, driverless trains that run across the network.

Lines and Connectivity

Deira City Centre is a Red Line station. To the north-east it heads towards the airport terminals and the Centrepoint terminus, while to the south-west it runs through the city centre and along Sheikh Zayed Road to Downtown, the Marina and the Route 2020 branch. For the Green Line, change one or two stops along at Union or BurJuman.

Station Layout and Structure

This is an underground station built below street level, with escalators and lifts carrying passengers up to the concourse and out towards the mall. Facilities include toilets, ATMs, NOL machines and small shops. Gold Class carriages run at the front of each train and a women and children carriage sits in the middle.

Accessibility

The station is fully step-free, with lifts linking the platform, concourse and street exits. Tactile paving, platform screen doors and audio-visual announcements support passengers with reduced mobility or vision, and the covered route to the mall keeps the walk easy.

• Follow the signs for the mall exit to reach the City Centre Deira entrance under cover.
• Expect the station to get crowded during sales seasons and public holidays.
• A NOL card costs AED 25 including AED 19 of credit and works on metro, bus, tram and water transport.
• The metro runs Saturday to Wednesday 05:00-00:00, Thursday 05:00-01:00 and Friday 08:00-01:00, which lines up well with mall hours.

City Centre Deira - directly beside the station, a large long-standing mall with hundreds of shops, a hypermarket, dining and a cinema.

Dubai Creek - a short ride or taxi south, the historic waterway lined with abra crossings and dhow wharfage.

Garhoud district - a stop or two towards the airport, home to the Irish Village and Century Village dining spots.

Timings and Best Time to Travel

Trains at Deira City Centre run Saturday to Wednesday 05:00-00:00, Thursday 05:00-01:00 and Friday 08:00-01:00. Alongside the weekday commuter peaks of 07:30-09:30 and 17:00-19:30, the station gets busy in the afternoons and evenings when shoppers arrive. Late mornings on weekdays are the calmest time to travel.
