East Acton station is a Central line stop in west London that sits between the residential streets of East Acton and the large open expanse of Wormwood Scrubs. The Scrubs - as Londoners call it - is simultaneously a large open park popular with joggers, dog walkers and sports teams, and the location of HM Prison Wormwood Scrubs, one of London's most well-known Victorian jails. The two aspects coexist in a very London way: the park is genuinely accessible and pleasant for walking, while the prison's distinctive yellow-brick Victorian facade looms at the park's edge. The area around East Acton station is also the location of the emerging Old Oak Common development, future site of one of London's major HS2 interchanges.
East Acton station opened in 1920. It sits in Zone 2 and is served by the Central line only. The station does not have step-free access. It is between North Acton to the west and White City to the east.
