Euston Square is one of the original stations on the world's first underground railway, opened on 10 January 1863 as part of the Metropolitan Railway's inaugural service between Paddington and Farringdon. Today it sits in Zone 1 on the Circle, Hammersmith and City and Metropolitan lines, a five-minute walk from Euston mainline station (Northern and Victoria lines) and close to the University College Hospital and several University of London buildings along the Euston Road. It is a useful Zone 1 stop for reaching University College London, the Wellcome Collection and the southern edge of Bloomsbury.

All three lines - Circle (yellow), Hammersmith and City (pink) and Metropolitan (magenta) - serve Euston Square. Services connect east to King's Cross St Pancras (one stop, major interchange) and west through Great Portland Street, Baker Street and towards Paddington and the outer Metropolitan network.
Euston Square station has a travel information point and ticket machines. The surrounding Euston Road area has cafes, restaurants and convenience stores. University College Hospital has its own extensive facilities.
Euston Square does not have step-free access. King's Cross St Pancras (one stop east) has full step-free access on all six lines including the Circle, Hammersmith and City and Metropolitan lines.
Wellcome Collection - adjacent to the station. A free museum exploring the connections between medicine, life and art. Fascinating permanent and temporary exhibitions. Free.
University College London - ten minutes walk. One of London's leading research universities, with the UCL Art Museum (free) and the Petrie Museum of Egyptian Archaeology in the main campus.
Euston station - five minutes walk east. Northern and Victoria lines, National Rail services to Birmingham, Liverpool and Scotland.
Circle, Hammersmith and City and Metropolitan line services at Euston Square run from approximately 05:30 to midnight on weekdays and similar hours on weekends. There is no Night Tube on these lines. The station is busiest during weekday rush hours when UCH staff and nearby office workers commute.
