The town has a pleasant character with independent shops and good pubs, but the main reason to stop here is the Rickmansworth Aquadrome: a 120-acre park that contains two lakes used for sailing, windsurfing and paddleboarding, surrounded by nature trails through a combination of open water, wetland and grassland in the wider Colne Valley Regional Park. It is free to enter and is one of the more rewarding outdoor destinations accessible on the Metropolitan line.
