Ruislip station is one of the outer Metropolitan and Piccadilly line stops that genuinely rewards a visit. The station serves the historic village of Ruislip in the London Borough of Hillingdon, a settlement that predates the Underground by many centuries and has retained a recognisable village core around Manor Farm. Ruislip Lido - a reservoir with a sandy beach, outdoor swimming, a miniature railway and good walking paths around the perimeter - is one of the most appealing outdoor family destinations accessible on the Underground. Ruislip Woods, a Site of Special Scientific Interest, covers nearly 300 hectares of ancient woodland immediately adjacent to the lido.
Ruislip station opened in 1904. It sits in Zone 6 and is served by the Metropolitan line and the Piccadilly line (Uxbridge branch). The station does not have step-free access but has a car park. It is between Ruislip Manor to the south-east and Ickenham to the north-west.
Both the Metropolitan line (magenta) and the Piccadilly line (dark blue) serve Ruislip. The Metropolitan connects south-east towards Ruislip Manor, Eastcote and Rayners Lane towards Harrow-on-the-Hill and Baker Street. The Piccadilly connects in the same direction and towards Uxbridge to the north-west. Journey time to Baker Street is approximately thirty-five minutes.
Ruislip station has a car park, shops and a travel information point. The village has local shops, cafes and the Manor Farm complex nearby. The lido has its own cafe and facilities.
Ruislip does not have step-free access. Hillingdon (several stops north-west on the Metropolitan and Piccadilly) has step-free access.
