Odaiba-kaihinkōen station sits on the Yurikamome automated monorail, perched above Tokyo Bay on the artificial island of Odaiba. The ride here is part of the attraction - the elevated tracks sweep over Rainbow Bridge with unobstructed views of the Tokyo skyline stretching back toward Shinjuku and beyond. It is one of those journeys in Tokyo that genuinely surprises first-time visitors.
Odaiba itself was built on reclaimed land in the 19th century as a defensive fort, then redeveloped into a futuristic leisure district from the 1990s onward. Today it draws visitors for TeamLab's immersive digital art, waterfront dining, a replica Statue of Liberty, and one of the few sandy beaches accessible by rail in greater Tokyo.
Odaiba-kaihinkōen opened in 1996 as part of the Yurikamome Line, the fully automated, driverless elevated railway connecting Shimbashi to Toyosu via the island. The station is elevated, open-plan and modern, sitting directly above Odaiba Kaihin Park and the waterfront promenade. It is one of two Odaiba stations on the Yurikamome, the other being Odaiba (closer to DiverCity and Fuji TV).
The Yurikamome Line is the sole rail connection to Odaiba. Trains run frequently from Shimbashi station (about 13 minutes), which connects to the JR Yamanote Line, the Tokyo Metro Ginza Line and the Toei Asakusa Line. From Toyosu at the eastern terminus, the Tokyo Metro Yurakucho Line provides onward access across central Tokyo. The Rinkai Line from Tokyo Teleport station (a short walk across the island) offers an alternative route via Osaki and into the JR network.
The station is elevated on a single platform with direct access down to the beachfront promenade. Facilities include toilets, ATMs, WiFi, shops, cafes and an information desk. Exits lead straight onto Odaiba Kaihin Park and the beach, with Aqua City mall and the replica Statue of Liberty a two-minute walk from the gates. The station is fully step-free with lifts serving all levels.
TeamLab Planets - 10-minute walk south. An immersive digital art installation combining water-filled rooms and projections. Booking months in advance is standard during busy seasons.
Rainbow Bridge - immediately visible from the station. The 798-metre suspension bridge offers a pedestrian walkway (free, daytime only) with views back to the Tokyo skyline and down to the waterfront.
Odaiba Beach (Kaihin Park) - direct from station exit. A sandy artificial beach with full views of the bridge and bay - unusual for central Tokyo and a favourite spot at sunset.
DiverCity Tokyo and Gundam Statue - 12-minute walk or one stop on Yurikamome. The life-size Unicorn Gundam statue outside DiverCity is a pilgrimage site for anime fans, with regular light-up events in the evenings.
Replica Statue of Liberty - 3-minute walk. A 1:7 scale replica gifted by France in 1998, positioned with Tokyo Bay and the bridge as a backdrop for a uniquely surreal photo opportunity.
Yurikamome services run from approximately 05:00 to midnight. Rush hours are lighter here than on central lines - this is primarily a leisure route. Weekday mornings (before 10:00) and weekday evenings are the quietest times. Weekends draw significant crowds from mid-morning onward, particularly to DiverCity and the beach area. Summer evenings are popular for the beach and bridge illumination. The station area can be breezy due to its waterfront position, so bring a layer in cooler months.
If you are heading to TeamLab Planets, Odaiba-kaihinkōen is your closest metro stop on the Yurakucho Line. It also gives easy access to Rainbow Bridge view and Odaiba beach. Use the fare calculator to plan your journey cost before you travel.
