Burnt Oak station serves one of London's most authentically diverse neighbourhoods. The Broadway outside the station is lined with international food shops, halal butchers, African grocers, Eastern European delis and a variety of restaurants that reflect the area's richly mixed population - Somali, Ghanaian, Nigerian, Polish, Romanian and South Asian communities all have a strong local presence here. Food writers and cooks who seek out the kind of ingredients not available in mainstream supermarkets know Burnt Oak well. It is one of those London places that rewards curiosity and is genuinely undervisited by those outside the immediate community.
