Palam Metro Station is an essential underground transit hub on the Magenta Line, serving the historic Palam village, the dense residential colonies of Raj Nagar and Manglapuri, and the nearby Palam Railway Station. Before the metro arrived in 2018, the Palam flyover area was synonymous with some of the worst traffic jams in West Delhi. The station has provided a transformative, rapid transit alternative, linking this highly populated region directly to the airport and South Delhi.
The station is an engineering feat, carved out beneath the heavily congested Palam intersection. It features a spacious, multi-level underground concourse designed to disperse large crowds efficiently. Notably, the station provides a crucial inter-modal transport link, with Gate 3 located a short distance from the Palam Railway Station, allowing suburban train commuters from Haryana to easily switch to the metro network.
Strategically, Palam station is the last major residential boarding point before the Magenta Line enters the Cantonment and Airport zones. The area around the station is intensely busy, characterized by local markets, heavy auto-rickshaw traffic, and a constant flow of pedestrians. The DMRC ensures a clean, secure, and well-lit environment underground, offering a stark and welcome contrast to the chaotic surface conditions.
If you are heading to Palam Railway Station, Palam is your closest metro stop on the Magenta Line. It also gives easy access to Palam Village Market and Manglapuri. Use the fare calculator to plan your journey cost before you travel.
