Energy

Energy takes its name from the cluster of utilities and industrial facilities that surround it on the Jebel Ali side of the city, including the power and water infrastructure that keeps this part of Dubai running. It is not a tourist stop. The station exists to move the large daytime workforce of the warehouses, plants and offices in this district, and it is at its liveliest at the start and end of the working shifts.

Because the area is built for industry rather than leisure, the streets around the station are wide and functional, and most passengers are either arriving for work or connecting onward. For visitors, the main value of Energy is as a quiet, reliable point on the Red Line one stop from the themed courts of Ibn Battuta Mall.

Station Overview

Energy opened in 2013 on the Dubai Metro Red Line and sits in Zone 2 of the NOL fare system. It is an elevated station on a viaduct, served by the network's fully automated, driverless trains.

Lines and Connectivity

Energy is a Red Line station. In one direction the line runs towards Ibn Battuta and National Paints, where the Route 2020 branch splits for Expo City, while in the other it heads back through the Marina towards Downtown and Deira. For the Green Line, change at BurJuman or Union.

Station Layout and Structure

Energy is an elevated station with lifts, escalators and stairs connecting the concourse to the platform. Facilities are straightforward and cover the essentials, with toilets, ATMs, NOL top-up machines and a staffed service point. Gold Class carriages are at the front of each train and a women and children carriage runs in the middle.

Accessibility

Energy has full step-free access, with lifts between street level, the concourse and the platform. Tactile paving, audio announcements and platform screen doors are in place, in line with the rest of the network.

Travel Tips

• Expect the station to fill and empty around industrial shift times rather than the usual leisure peaks.
• Ibn Battuta Mall is only one stop away if you want shopping, dining or a cinema.
• For the Green Line, change at BurJuman or Union.
• Taxis are available but less frequent here than at busier stations, so allow extra time for onward travel.
• A NOL card costs AED 25 including AED 19 of credit and works across metro, tram, bus and marine transport.
• The metro runs Saturday to Wednesday 05:00-00:00, Thursday 05:00-01:00 and Friday 08:00-01:00.

Timings and Best Time to Travel

Trains at Energy run Saturday to Wednesday 05:00-00:00, Thursday 05:00-01:00 and Friday 08:00-01:00. It is one of the quieter stations on the line for much of the day, with the heaviest use tied to industrial shift changes and the standard weekday commuter peaks around 07:30-09:30 and 17:00-19:30.
