Etisalat by e&

Etisalat by e& marks the north-eastern end of the Green Line, out in the Al Qusais district near the telecom company that gives the station its name. This is a commuter's station through and through. Every morning it fills with residents from the surrounding neighbourhoods and workers arriving from Sharjah, many of them stepping off inter-emirate buses or leaving cars in the park-and-ride before continuing into Dubai by rail.

The surroundings are workaday Dubai rather than postcard Dubai, all residential towers, offices and the sprawling Al Qusais area stretching out beyond. It does not draw sightseers, and that suits its purpose. As a terminus it is where a lot of journeys begin, so if you board here you can usually grab a seat before the train fills up on its way towards the old city and Bur Dubai.

Station Overview

Etisalat by e& Station opened in 2011 as the north-eastern terminus of the Dubai Metro Green Line. It sits in Zone 5 of the NOL fare system. Trains are fully automated and driverless, and the station is elevated, raised above the road on a viaduct.

Lines and Connectivity

Etisalat by e& is a Green Line station and the end of the line at this end. From here the Green Line runs through Al Qusais and Deira towards Bur Dubai and its other terminus. It is not an interchange, so to reach the Red Line for the Marina, Downtown or the airport you change lines at Union or BurJuman.

Station Layout and Structure

The station is elevated, with lifts, escalators and stairs connecting the concourse to the platforms, and a park-and-ride alongside for drivers. Facilities include parking, toilets, ATMs, NOL top-up machines and a staffed service point. Gold Class carriages sit at the front of each train and a women and children carriage runs in the middle.

Accessibility

Etisalat by e& has full step-free access, with lifts linking the car park, street level, the concourse and the platform. Tactile paving, audio announcements and platform screen doors are all fitted, which helps commuters moving between the bus stands, the car park and the trains.

Travel Tips

• There is a park-and-ride here, so it is a handy place to leave the car and continue into the city by metro.
• Inter-emirate buses link the station with Sharjah, making it a common crossing point for cross-border commuters.
• A NOL card costs AED 25 including AED 19 of credit and works on metro, bus, tram and water transport.
• For the Red Line, change at Union or BurJuman.
• The metro runs Saturday to Wednesday 05:00-00:00, Thursday 05:00-01:00 and Friday 08:00-01:00.

Timings and Best Time to Travel

Trains at Etisalat by e& run Saturday to Wednesday 05:00-00:00, Thursday 05:00-01:00 and Friday 08:00-01:00. As a terminus it is busiest during the weekday commuter peaks of roughly 07:30-09:30 and 17:00-19:30. Boarding here off-peak usually means a comfortable, seated start to your journey.
