Totteridge and Whetstone station serves one of London's most remarkable residential areas. Totteridge village, a fifteen-minute walk from the station, is one of the very few genuine English villages that survive within the Greater London boundary. The village has a 12th-century church, a pond, a lane lined with ancient hedgerows, and farmland that has been in continuous agricultural use for centuries - all sitting in what is technically Zone 4 of the London Underground. Large, expensive houses surround the village and the Totteridge Valley is a nature reserve with good walking and wildlife.
