Discovery Gardens serves one of the largest residential communities in this corner of Dubai, a sprawling cluster of low-rise apartment blocks arranged into themed gardens such as the Mediterranean, Mogul and Zen zones. Home to a big, mixed population of families and professionals, the community had grown for years before the Route 2020 branch finally brought the metro to its doorstep in 2021.
For residents the station changed the daily commute, replacing a reliance on cars and feeder buses with a direct rail link into the rest of the city. It is a practical, everyday stop rather than a visitor attraction, and its busiest moments track the working day as thousands of residents head out in the morning and return in the evening.
Discovery Gardens opened in 2021 as part of the Route 2020 branch of the Dubai Metro, and sits in Zone 2 of the NOL fare system. It is an elevated station on a viaduct, served by the network's fully automated, driverless trains.
Discovery Gardens is on the Route 2020 branch of the Red Line. Branch trains run towards Expo City in one direction and back to National Paints in the other, where they rejoin the main Red Line for Ibn Battuta, the Marina, Downtown and Deira. For the Green Line, change at BurJuman or Union.
Discovery Gardens is an elevated station reached by lifts, escalators and stairs. Facilities cover the essentials, with toilets, ATMs, NOL top-up machines and a staffed service point, and a taxi rank sits at the entrance for the last stretch home. Gold Class carriages are at the front of each train and a women and children carriage runs in the middle.
Discovery Gardens has full step-free access, with lifts between street level, the concourse and the platform. Tactile paving, audio announcements and platform screen doors are all present, in line with the network's standards.
Discovery Gardens community - around the station, a large themed residential district of garden-styled clusters.
