History
Line 5 is a fully elevated 24.9 km corridor planned to connect Thane, Bhiwandi and Kalyan with 15 stations. It is one of the most important suburban expansion lines because it serves logistics, warehousing, manufacturing and rapidly growing residential catchments beyond core Mumbai. Official MMRDA updates in 2026 show very high civil progress on many elements, but the line is still under construction.
