Oud Metha

Oud Metha has a calmer, greener feel than much of central Dubai. This is a settled district of schools, community clubs, low-rise apartments and family villas, and the station serves residents going about ordinary life as much as it does visitors. The wide, tree-lined roads and the run of parks nearby give the area a relaxed character that comes as a pleasant surprise between the souks of Bur Dubai and the towers further out.

The headline draw close to the station is Wafi, the Egyptian-themed mall whose pyramids and hieroglyphic facades make it one of the city's more distinctive shopping and dining spots. Beyond it stretches the greenery of Dubai Creek Park, and the older Lamcy area sits within reach too, so an afternoon here can easily mix a shady walk, a themed mall and a meal without ever leaving the neighbourhood.

Station Overview

Oud Metha Station opened in 2011 on the Dubai Metro's Green Line. It sits in Zone 6 of the NOL fare system. The Dubai Metro runs fully automated, driverless trains, and Oud Metha is an elevated station raised above the road on a viaduct.

Lines and Connectivity

Oud Metha is a Green Line station. One way the line runs towards BurJuman and Bur Dubai, and the other way it continues towards Dubai Healthcare City and on to the Creek terminus. It is not an interchange, so for the Red Line you change at BurJuman or Union.

Station Layout and Structure

Oud Metha is elevated, with lifts, escalators and stairs linking the concourse to the platforms above. Facilities include toilets, ATMs, NOL top-up machines and a staffed service point. Gold Class carriages sit at the front of each train and a women and children carriage runs in the middle, clearly marked on the platform.

Accessibility

Oud Metha has full step-free access, with lifts between street level, the concourse and the platforms. Tactile paving, audio announcements and platform screen doors are all provided, and the level footways towards Wafi and Creek Park make it a comfortable station for families with pushchairs.

Travel Tips

• Wafi Mall is an easy walk and worth seeing for its Egyptian theming as much as its shops and restaurants.
• Carry on past Wafi for Dubai Creek Park, a large green space that is lovely in the cooler months.
• A NOL card costs AED 25 including AED 19 of credit and works on metro, bus, tram and marine transport.
• For the Red Line, change at BurJuman or Union.
• The metro runs Saturday to Wednesday 05:00-00:00, Thursday 05:00-01:00 and Friday 08:00-01:00.

Timings and Best Time to Travel

Trains at Oud Metha run Saturday to Wednesday 05:00-00:00, Thursday 05:00-01:00 and Friday 08:00-01:00. Weekday rush hours are around 07:30-09:30 and 17:00-19:30, with extra activity around school start and finish times. Weekends and cooler evenings are the best time for Wafi and a stroll through Creek Park.
